Absolutely. When you download MarsNote you can be sure that no personal data will leave your computer. You do not have to give MarsNote administrative privileges and it never downloads files.
The only time you need an internet connection is when you install MarsNote. After this, no internet connection is required, however this will prevent updates from being accessible.
MarsNote will automatically update on launch whenever there is an update available and you are connected to the internet.
Notes and settings will not be removed during any update processes as they are stored in a separate location.

Profiles are the first way you can separate notes. For example you could have a profile for all personal notes, and another for work notes. Each profile has a collection of folders which can each contain notes.
Start by pressing the 'profiles' button on the top right of the Main Window to open up the profiles flyout. Next, press the 'add' button, enter the name of the new profile and press 'create'.

Folders are the way to organise notes inside each profile. Each folder has a collection of notes.
Start by pressing the plus button at the bottom of the folders pane, then enter the name of the new folder and press 'create'.
Hover your mouse over the folder you wish to delete from the list of folders and press the trash can icon, then press 'delete'.

Notes are individual items with the ability to have a title, description, colour and content. Notes can be pinned to allow easy access, as pinned notes are always located at the top of the notes list when you open the app.
Press the plus button at the bottom of the notes pane, a new note will be added to the list which can then be edited.
